"There are more things in heaven and earth than are dreamt of in your philosophy..."
A new major world premiere composed by Andrea Clearfield with libretto by Ellen Frankel and new percussion instruments designed by David Kontak.
In a world where technology encroaches more and more on our lived experiences, Beyond the Binary explores the question of what it means to be fully human. Featuring percussion-driven instrumental rock trio Square Peg Round Hole and Philadelphia-based drag performer Cookie DiOrio as “The Oracle,” and additional music of Carlos Cordero, Moira Smiley, Zanaida Robles, and my original work Alleluia.

Originally commissioned by Susan Swaney and Voces Novae, The Vonnegut Requiem is an incredible collaboration between eight living composers (Cary Boyce, Stacy Garrop, Dale Trumbore, Gabriel Lubell, Malcolm Dalglish, Lauren Bernofsky, Don Freund and Moira Smiley) and created in the most Vonnegut-ty way in the spirit of his granfalloons. Come and hear the texts that KV wrote when he first experienced the Latin Requiem, and hear tradition kaleidoscopically distilled.
